West Plano is dominated by expensive homes. Great school district with a great location near the NDTR.
It's like saying you want to be in Southlake or Highland Park for $200k. Almost impossible to do.

The majority schools in PISD are good but a couple east of 75 are not as highly rated. Check greatschools.org for ratings. As for safety, the whole is Plano is very safe and crimefree. Amenities are plentiful every which way you go. There are groceries, drug stores, medical centers, restaurants, movie theaters, pretty much everything you need is nearby. Plano is surround by Willow Bend Mall, Collin Creek Mall, Stonebiar Mall and many other closeby shopping.

In addition to the schools each side feeds to in PISD there are a couple of other differences. West Plano homes tend to be newer than East Plano. Also access to midcities and western Dallas work areas are better from West Plano via N. Dallas Tollway and/or Prez Geo Bush tollway or 121. I am a newish, very happy resident of West Plano .

Would you explain why and what factors made you choose West Plano instead of other cities? Were you relocating from other states too?

Thx for your respond. BTW, how do you compare the housing bet' Houston and Dallas especially in Plano area?. Are there any significants things bet' these two cities beside getting closer to your family?re

As a person who grew up in Plano since 1993, I would say anything West of 75 is wonderful. Try looking at 75024 (Northwest Plano) and 75025 (North Plano) instead of just 75093. 024 is close to Stonebriar and border's Frisco's wealthiest zip code, 75034. Likewise, 025 borders Twin Creeks in Allen's wealthiest zip code, 75013. Both 024 and 025 are also next to McKinney's wealthiest zip code, 75070. While 093 is the wealthiest in Plano, 024 and 025 comes pretty close in terms of average household income. Plus, those two feed into Plano Senior High, which is a very good high school. In addition, you'll be able to stay within your budget and get a 90s-00s home. In addition, you're close to the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121), the Dallas North Tollway, and Central Expressway (US75). My point is that within this area, you'll be surrounded by other safe neighborhoods that are well-kept by neighbors who share the same family-oriented lifestyle.

I prefer Plano as a community to those in Houston. Newer affordable housing with all the restaurants and golf and shopping needed ( little by me but more by wife and mother in law who lives with us). I prefer the climate here as well as the home design versus houston at this price point. Both are great places to live.... Houston is a great place to work in energy and Plano is a nicer climate over all but not by a huge margin
