I use Green Mountain Energy because it's 97% renewable energy (according to their website at least). Smaller carbon footprint and all that jazz. Great customer service, too.

It's not the cheapest, but it was cheaper than most when I was shopping around.

Pennywise is owned by NRG out of Houston its their way of going after competitive shoppers. I think for the most part their rates are good and I will consider using them when my contract is up in June.

https://www.pennywisepower.com/

Right now they show 7.4 cents for 4 months with 25 dollar rebate and 8.4 for 12 months with 50 dollar rebate for my zip code in Dallas.

That would be a considerable savings for me from my current 9.0 rate with Spark Energy

None! With gas prices this low its hard to figure why bills are so high now. We need a politician to run on platform of lowering living cost in this country. Instead we get promises of give aways from the gov which are needed less than lower energy and other costs like health care

"Renewable energy"?

Please.

All those windmills and photovoltaic cells were created out of materials that had to be mined, refined, chemically treated, and produced using coal/nuclear/gas powered plants.

Have you got any idea how much carbon and nuclear waste was 'created' to give you that warm and fuzzy feeling?

They made it such a hassle to switch when they first deregulated that many just stayed. TXU is still not that competitive in a non-competitive environment.

Even if they were the cheapest I still would not go back.

I wonder if using average billings is holding people back too. If you select avg billing during fall or winter, you can end up with a big balance you owe TXU or others. Not wanting to pay that big amount might keep some customers with TXU or Reliant too. I couldnt figure out why they let me go avg billing and owe them money when I moved to DFW area last winter but suspect this is the reason for their no interest loan to me.

Thanks for bringing this up. For my zip, it shows 5.8 cents for 4 months with $25 rebate and 7.7 for 12 months with $50 rebate. I will switch and try out for 4 months and see how it goes or should I just go with the year contract? Has anyone tried Pennywise ? I wonder how much the rate changes after contract is over.
