Regarding the high crime rate: crimes can ONLY be recorded IF they are REPORTED! What the high crime rate for Dallas CAN mean is that the residents of Dallas are comfortable that their police department will answer their calls, make a report, follow up, investigate and prosecute. Each city also reports crimes differently and this FACT has been proven MANY times. The city of Dallas reports crimes differently than LA. In Dallas if a attacks 3 people at the same time and all three people file a report it is registered as THREE CRIMES! In some cities to make them "appear" to be "safer" they will only file it as ONE CRIME! HUGE DIFFERENCE. If the residents belive that their local police dept are inefficient and will not care or even answer the call many don't even bother to call to report a crime. That can make a HUGE difference in these "crime stats" that are out there. If I see a large city that has very low crime stats that makes me a little more leary that people are indifferent to crime and feel their p.d. will not even bother to answer their call.

I haven't heard, but if I am not mistaken they have actually torn the building down. I could be mistaken, I will have to make it point to drive down Preston soon.

Well your observation of the south west part of Fort Worth is wrong. There is a lot of wealth in that area. It depends on what part of the Southwest part of Fort Worth you are on. The hulen area is very nice. Im black and I am offended by your comments about blacks and hispanics and furthermore that area is perdominatley white.

Let's see, Highland Park has a Whole Foods...Plano has that too. Okay, what about Central Market? Oh wait, Plano has the only other one in the North Dallas region.

Unexpected - do you get out of Plano? There are Central Markets at:

Dallas, 5750 E. Lovers Lane, Dallas, TX
Fort Worth, 4651 West Freeway, Fort Worth, TX
Plano, 320 Coit Road, Plano, TX
Southlake, 1425 E. Southlake Boulevard, Southlake, TX

Last time I looked - all four of these cities reside in the N. TX region.

Yep EAST Dallas has Central Market and Whole Foods.

There is a Wal-Mart Grocery close to Downtown off Hall and Central. But I don't think there is one (grocery or super center)anywhere near me and we are adjacent to the Park Cities.

There is a Wal-Mart Super Center under construction in Lake Highlands on Forest near LBJ.

Thanks HockeyDadOf2. I wasn't sure. I hope the B&N is still there, but at least in DFW I *have* book stores to find books out. Unless it's a bestseller here I've had to resort to Amazon.

Good point. The crime report numbers actually measure how comfortable and satisfied the people are with their police departments.

I think he was referring to addresses on Preston in the Park Cities specifically, these are the ones that range from 4500 to 8500 and end at Northwest Highway, not that Preston Road ends there.
