As someone whose child is waitlisted at Dealey, cannot afford private school, and is zoned to MLK Jr Learning Center...I would love for you to turn down that spot.

Yes, it is odd that all of the downtown lofts and apartments are zoned to a school a few miles to the south. Not exactly a way to encourage dense, urban living.

Default got our letter on friday

if you can't wait to know, you can always call the school, give them your name and they'll look it up for you. i couldn't wait, so i called on thursday and they gave me the answer. the letter showed up the following day.

this is the 3rd time taking the test for us. do your research (lots of talk online here and there) and follow the instructions (printed, available at the school and during magnet fairs) to the letter. the best suggestion i have is to go to the school yourself and talk to any friendly face you see. do this more than once, during open houses and other public events. lather, rinse, repeat.

and, my opinion is if you get offered a spot, you'd be crazy to pass it up. the paid schools will always be there, there will always be closer/convenient options, but getting in at dealey is not easy. VERY not easy.
