what purposes--
general contractor BEFORE you buy a house--or you are considering major renovations afterwards--

and agree--where is your realtor's advice?

The home we like needs some work that is above the DIY level. We want an estimate to see what sort of cost we are talking before we offer. If it is extensive, it may not be worth offering.

I have some leads from the realtor, but I prefer to use an inspector not associated with him. (No problems with our realtor--nice guy, but I prefer that there not be any conflict of interest).
