I also plan to move too. How much does it cost for the mover? I move 25 miles away.

Well apt.moversdotcom quoted me $100 per hour for 3 guys and the truck. It also includes assembly and disassembly of things. They have a minimum of 2 hours. I hope I don't get the bad results I am reading about here.

CR did you get my pm with the name that I forwarded you?

The reason that I even forwarded him was because the guys charged 300.00 for three people for about four hours of work. The put little pads on all of my mom's furniture so as not to scrape her floors. When we moved out, they wrapped all my beds and couches so that when they were in storage they wouldn't get moldy and other things.

I guess I am a little partial because there are very few things in life that people actually exceed your expectations, but with this guy and his crew, mine were exceeded.

Read about this company today. Started by a marine, who hires Vets. Two Marines Moving

Check and see if they have a franchise in your area.

Does anyone have experience with hiring movers to just load/unload a truck? Do they usually charge hourly?

Now we are looking for a good moving company. We will be moving within a 5 mile radius but we have a lot of heavy furniture. Any recommendations...we need reasonable prices.

Thanks.
I highly recommend Mayflower, contact a local branch. It's not that much more expensive and they actually pack your things carefully, as in full plastic and blankets for every furniture item. Some places try to not wrap certain pieces, or they'll put a blanket on then but the corners still get knicked.

I've used movinghelp.com at least 10x in the past couple of years for load/unload help. There is usually a 2 hour minimum, but it's usually pretty cheap at $100 for 2 hrs, 2 guys. Read reviews for each provider on there before choosing.
