DART Inmotion Winter 2012

Does not seem fair and DART plans to offer service to other cities who do not opt in with sales tax.

Not only will Mesquite get a free ride they will get the first choice of seats in the morning.

The city of Mesquite is paying $300,000 per year for this service to be provided. They are hardly getting a free ride.

Not only that but it cost $7 a day round trip if I wanted to commute into work. Dart is only providing a van to ferry Mesquite residents to the Dart train station. The cost of the van, driver and gas is the only expense DART has with this service. There is no rail service so what is it you want Mesquite to be paying for.

7 a day is normal for a system day pass. I pay for a 1 month system pass for $100/mo. I use it about 20 days out of the month, so it costs me about 5 bucks a day total.

I haven't had a chance to use DART in 2012 yet, but last year $4 a day was the going rate unless they've changed it. $7 is pretty high and I think more than enough for a non-DART city resident to receive this service.

Mckinney is doing something similar. At least it has been brought before Council recently, though I am not sure what the final decision was, if even decided yet. The bus wasn't a DART bus though...I think it was an independent bus company, and it would take residents to the Parker Rd rail stop.

It's 4 bucks for local, not system. I live just below Plano and I take the buses to work in Uptown. Since I use the 205 bus (express bus) it is a system bus, so I need a system pass.

I'm not sure what it cost now. I drove over to the Garland transit center and took the bus to work for 13 years. Always wished Mesquite had some type of service. Now I work in far Plano and they get service . My company subsidized my yearly pass so I paid something like $230 for a yearly pass.

I wish my company did that, they said they need at least 15 people to start doing yearly passes. Oh well.
