Smile Moving to Garland TX

I am planning to move to Garland TX. We liked couple of houses in Meyrs Meadows (zip code 75043). Can anyone living in this area give us insight about this area like Crime? Most of the houses available are built by First Texas Homes.
Thanks,

I am also relocating to the Garland area and need more information on particular neighborhoods that are family friendly and have good elementary and middle schools.

Any help is appreciated.

I already moved to Garland. There are couple of new sub divisions in 75043 zip code area which are family friendly. There is a school (Lakeview Centennial High School)down the street of Myers Meadows. I have seen that there are 3-4 empty lots in Myers Meadows which has available signs. Also there are plenty of lots in Heron's bay subdivison.
These are schools near by Lyles Middle School, Shugart Elementary School. Castleglen Private School.

Lyles MS serves a high number of apartments and has a very high percentage of kids who have bounced in and out of Dallas ISD during their moves. I subbed there for 3 years and it was a constant battle with discipline and boundary setting for the teachers at the school.

Garland has school choice so you could request a different MS for your child but honestly you shouldn't have to at the middle school level.

Default 75043 Wykeham , Family of 3 , in search of that perfect place... :)

Hi;

We are family of 3 ( 2 + 2 y.o. boy ) in search of that perfect first place. Just recently we've found something in the Wykeham Townhomes subdivision of Garland and we were wondering if anyone has anything to say about this place. Yes, we know those are townhouses but from what we've found so far things look the way we would like them to look like. In general we are looking to get some more info about the residents. Is it ok to raise the kid there? Are there any families with little kids? By saying O'K, we do not mind occasional parties and BBQ's, we want them and we will throw them , but just wondering - is it every night is a party night ( by all means, party's fine - don't get us wrong - it's just a townhouse scenario - you have two neighbors on both sides of the fence) type'o enclosed community or common folk, common sense people ready to welcome newcomers trying to start up their live at a place they can finally call home.
We understand that this type of question may be considered as a delicate one but we mean peace and this forum seems to be the one for this type of request. As far as a location goes, it seems like we won't be able to go anywhere without a car but that is o'k. Distances to the center of Garland, Richardson and Plano are not terrible. There is a pool onsite ( hope water's clean... ) and we hope HOA does what it should. Or doesn't?... ????

Any comments about the place and surrounding neighborhoods, lake nearby etc would be greatly appreciated.

All the best,
NPD
