Default Moving to DFW soon..

Looking to rent a apartment particularly the Garland area, but any city like Irving, Denton or Plano would do. I know every area has its bad neighbor hoods, My question is what are some areas to stay out of?

You want to live close to your work location. DFW is huge and our traffic can be bad. Where are you working?

I just relocated to DFW last week but have been here on the ground doing a hard search of apartment complexes mainly in Plano. In Plano the best/most desirable area seems to be West Plano and there are a ton of apartment complexes around along the Preston Rd. corridor, some along Ohio Drive, some along Spring Creek Pkwy, nice places up by the Shops at Legacy and towards Stonebriar Mall getting up into Frisco, and some scattered throughout the Willow Bend area near Willow Bend Mall which is a really nice area. One area I would stay away from is east of 75 in Plano and that is based on what most people have told me as well as a couple of apts. I looked at just east of 75 that looked nice online, but turned out to not be in the best areas.

Sorry, but your post is a bit confusing... you're not moving for work, but it's in the Garland area? If Garland is where you're saying you want to locate, then look in NE Garland, zip 75044, and you should be fine anywhere there.

Check the crime reports for each city/neighborhood that you're considering - they're all available on each city's website.

Talk to locals, use sites like this, spend lots of time driving around - you can get a feel for what is a good area and what isn't. I suppose you can call the police and check crime stats for a particular apt. community address.
