Default Less House more land near Dallas?

Are there any areas in/around Dallas (within about 45 min. of Plano in any direction) which have homes which are smaller (meaning 3,000-3,500 sq. feet. 4,000 at the outside) but have more land (1-2+ acres)? I don't want a giant house where I'll be wasting energy heating and cooling it when I won't be using all the space. I'd rather have more land, which I would use. We have 2 acres right now and I love it.

Price range to about $1,000,000.

Does this exist? Everything seems to be huge. We're a family of 5, but I don't want or need all that space.

Public schools aren't important, we will probably send them to private school.

Thanks.

LOTS!! Anna, Melissa, Lucas, Lavon, Celina, Princeton, etc. In 45 minutes from Plano, you can be in a rural area! Gosh, even Farmersville is within 45 minutes' drive...

You definitely won't need to spend $1 million for a small house with only 2 acres of land.

Trenton is about 30 min no. of Plano and you can buy small acreages and build a very nice home for much less than $1M.....less than half that! No private schools around there but the public school is excellent.

The private schools are mostly in Dallas proper with a few religious schools in other areas.

Might be on the outside of your range but Copper Canyon and Argyle. They are to the west of Lewisville. Very nice open areas and some amazing houses.

ISellAddison is on a distinguished road
I recently sold a 1.3+ acre property in Addison that met your criteria. The house needed updating. There is currently a 2 acre lot with a house on it in town that is being marketed as a tear down.

Anna, Melissa? Close to Dallas? 45 minutes from Plano, but well over an hour from Dallas. I guess that all depends on your definition of "near" and what you consider Dallas.

IMO that is not "near" Dallas, which is what was asked for. There are places where you can get an acre in Lakewood, relatively near to White Rock Lake for your price range and is actually IN Dallas.

This is great info, thanks everyone. I'm happy to hear that these places do exist and I just hadn't found them online! I will probably look in the areas suggested closer to Dallas if that's where the non-parochial private schools are for the most part. Thanks again.
