Default Where to buy luggage in Dallas or Plano area

I have a child going off to college in the Fall and we want to buy a nice piece of luggage as a present. Where is a good place to check out brands and prices? It's been 20 years since I've bought a suitcase for myself.

They have great deals on luggage at Marshalls. Pretty much what you'd find at Lord & Taylor, but at half the price.

If you're looking for upscale luggage, of course, there's LV, etc.

TJ Maxx has name brands for a lot less $$. I bought a Tommy Hilfiger there for nothing. Also, Blue Moon has a bunch, but not the name brand stuff.

What the others said, plus Target, Wal-Mart, etc. You can find luggage anywhere. I'm sure all the major department stores probably had it on sale over the weekend as well. They usually have luggage sets on sale on holiday weekends.

I guess where you'd want to buy luggage depends on what you consider a "nice" piece, and how much you're willing to spend. Given that luggage is sent through automatic sorting systems in airports, I wouldn't spend too much on it since it's just going to get scuffed up and damaged anyway.

Preston Luggage & Gifts is a great place to buy luggage. Buy a good luggage brand like Briggs & Riley or Hartmann.

Tumi is the brand still in existence I have had the best longevity with, Adiamo was a great brand but I believe is no longer in business. Is there a luggage and leather warehouse here in DFW as in Houston which offers great brands at good prices too?

I've always had best luck at Marshall's.
Although...our last piece of luggage was Tumi from a dept store for my husband's travel....a specific carry on.

If you are looking at getting a roller I'd suggest the Costco 22". $99 and has a lifetime warranty. It is almost as nice as a Tumi and much cheaper. If you are looking to get something more expensive, I'd suggest the hardside Rimowa, most luggage stores carry them.

Don't forget Land's End for well-made pieces in a mid-price range. Really practical and you can shop online.
