Default Boarding Kennels for Dogs in Dallas

Hi,
We will be moving back to Dallas at the end of October and are looking for a nice place to board our dog for 1 to 2 weeks while we make the move. We will be living in Preston Hollow, but will take her wherever we can find a nice place. I found these places on the internet: Wuf in Irving, Pappy's in Plano and Lone Star Dog Ranch north of Mckinney. Does anyone have any experience with these kennels or any other ones?
Thank you!

We have used Pappy's twice. Once for our move which was a 3 night stay and then again this summer for almost a 2 week stay. The facility is clean and well maintained. Charlie seemed great when we picked him up. We did the boarding and the 'day care'. It was a bit pricey but better than doggie guilt while you are away soaking up the sun! ;-) My mom still makes fun that we sent our dog to day care!!

There's a vet at Preston and Forest that does boarding at fairly reasonable rates and since you'll be in Preston Hollow, it is much more conveniently located for you. Try the Cornerstone Animal Clinic.

If boarding at a veteranarians office I would just beware that many of them board the pets in cages as opposed to runs. Personally I could imagine putting my guys in a cage for 22 - 23 hours a day. Some might be OK with that and they typically are less expensive.

Cityvet in Uptown or Oak Lawn is really good. They are less expensive than most, have both full doggie day care and vet services or site. They are great.

Pappy's Pet Lodge--used it and loved it. Again, it's a bit pricey, but the dogs are very well taken-care-of, and seemed very happy when we picked them up. The staff was also very knowledgeable and attentive.

My parents board their 70lb dog there all the time and are happy with it.

As I said many vets board in small cages, some, very few that I have come across, have larger dog runs for boarders. I PERSONALLY would never do that with our dogs, others are fine with it. I just suggest that if you don't want your dog boarded in a cage that you make sure the vet has runs. If you don't mind them being caged for all those hours than it's a great way to save money.

Thanks for all your input!

Nativedallasite,
I looked on Cornerstone's website and they definitely have larger runs, but do you know if they have some sort of a yard for the dogs to run around in? That would be quite convenient!

Also on a related topic, what about Vets that yall can recommend? Our dog is 8 yrs old and she had surgery earlier this year to biopsy her liver. We found out that she has liver disease and is on a bunch of meds right now. Im going to need a vet that has experience with that sort of stuff. The last time I lived in Dallas (which was 16 years ago), I didnt have a dog, so I dont know any vets around there. Thanks again in advance for all the great information!
