This summer has already been cooler than last year which was bad. Outside of the summer months we have many months of sunny pleasant weather, despite a few cold snaps in late January to early February. We just tend to do our shopping in malls, hang by the pool with a nice cold drink and make the most of it.
When I left Target today it said 105 =D

I don't get why people hate them.

This thread was so much better when it was about crickets.

Like a plague of biblical proportions?

Or, the grackles like an Alfred Hitchcock movie?

Who needs the tv show when the city provides its own drama?

Agreed! Don't know how this thread managed to get off track....how did we go from crickets in Dallas to an argument about other cities?

They are everywhere in Texas, not just Dallas. What's weird is usually we're infested with them at the end of September (when the weather gets a little cooler), but this year, I've never seen so many in the heat. I hate them and when they lie dead on sidewalks or wherever, they stink to high-heaven, a really disgusting and nasty smell. Yes, the heat is pathetic, every single summer, but some are worse than others and this one isn't the worst ... so far, anyway. It's early yet.

P.S. Just be glad you haven't seen any of the giant flying roaches. OMG! They're terrifying.

Flying roaches! Yeah I have heard that they infest other areas around Texas too. Mentioned Dallas because that is where I was during my visit. Thank God I did not experience smelling them.....tried to avoid stepping on them while walking on the sidewalks downtown. Just disgusting!!

Guess as someone else mentioned every state/city has something strange about it.

The crickets explode when the grackles are nesting. Otherwise a flock of grackles would eat well..
