Any advice on how good this is as an investment? Any thoughts on the builders? Plantations properties are cheaper than those of David Weekly.

I too, am interested in Las Colinas (riverside, Las colinas, etc). I like the street appeal, especially with the Darling homes in the area.

However, my girlfriend's brother is a structural engineer here in Dallas (he actually owns one of the most prominent engineering firms in the area), and he has advised me to NOT buy or build in that area...he says that the soil conditions there are some of the worst in DFW (it has something to do with the way they built the area ????) and that you will have major foundation problems down the road.

Also - the tax rate in Las Colinas is VERY high...and IM not quite sure what one gets for all that extra money that they pay.

How is the tax rate "VERY HIGH" compared to other cities/suburbs in the area? I find it average, if not less than the other surrounding areas. I believe it ranges from 2.52-2.6 %. The other tax that is often misleading is the DCURD tax and all homeowners in Las Colinas files an abatement each year to decrease it a few hundred a year.
