your best bet would be to go online and check out the reviews, there's ton's of Indian restaurants in Dallas. I like Mayuri's and Our Place.

After experimenting with South-Asian cusine for many years, I have come to an understanding that Pakistani Restaurantes are better as they are meat eaters so their meat dishes are clearly superior to Indians who are traditionally vegan and Bangladeshi who prefer fish and rice. I like brunch buffet at BBQ Tonite in Carrollton on weekends which lasts from 12-3. They are informal and economical but buffet is awesome.

I've been a fan of Kebab and Kurry (in Richardson) for over 25 years. Nothing fancy, just good food at a good price. Their Addson location (which is called India West) is also good, but pricier for the same fare.

Our Place Indian Cuisine

Very good buffet with lots of items for around $12

Dera Grill

Lots of non-veg items on the menu. Small restaurant. Restrooms are not clean. Food is awesome.

The buffet at India Palace is about $10 (well, I believe it's actually $12, but close enough). Pretty much unlimited tandoori chicken and naan in the buffet

I didn't even realize they have a lunch buffet. Love that place!

Vindu in far north Dallas (Frankford & Tollway) is excellent - the owner used to run Pasand in Richardson. They have a lunch buffet (weekend included, I think), but probably no dinner buffet.

I have been in Plano since August 2011 and we are pure vegetarians, so options are bit limited.
Here are my experiences...Not in any particular order

1. Madras Pavillion - Good food, not pricey, like 12 $ or so on weekends. Pure veg and lots of things in buffet + 1 Dosa

2. Chettinad Palace - Better south Indian food, did not try north Indian stuff from buffet. Decent amount of choices.

3. Iravat - Not that great. Limited choices in menu. Gulab jamuns are always bad (half cooked).

4. Taste of India (McKinney) - Not that good. Just Ok. Avoid if possible.

For buffet, i have only been to above mentioned places. For a-la-carte there are lots of options if you need them.
