I used to regularly make right turn on red at Preston and Spring Creek and never got a ticket even with the camera there. But these cameras are a pain. No human intervention. Also they cause accidents because some slam on the brakes and get rear ended.

The law of unintended consequences.

It pretty disconcerting at night at Coit and Campbell, when the strobes start going off and no one is going through the intersection.

I don't understand. Do you have a problem with the law or the cameras? The law clearly states you MUST come to a complete stop before making a right turn when the light is red unless it is forbidden (no right on red sign). Camera or no camera, if we all follow the law there won't be a problem.

If you want to follow the "Law," photo enforcement violates our Rights. First, their generally run by none Law Enforcemnt personnel...and generally by an out of state company. Second, you're not allowed to face your accuser nor have a trail. Third of all, the OP stated s/he had stopped.

Where did you stop? Was it after you crossed the solid white line? That is usually what happens on the right turn on red stop, simply because you have to get out far enough to see if there is any oncoming cross traffic. So you end up having to stop twice, once behind the line, to satisfy the law, then another time to actually be safe. If you only stop beyond the line, they got you even if you stop after it, especially if you are in the crosswalk.

I made a right turn at a stop light at the Dallas North Tollway and Legacy. I didn't come to a full stop, but there was not a single other car around, as it was late at night. I got a red light camera ticket. I was pissed.

I have seen enough when in Plano hell can freeze over before I make a right turn on red.

You do have to look before you go.

Not really. Law enforcement can use evidence from cameras they didn't personally set up. Don't believe me? Try stealing something from Walmart. I can guarantee you they WILL use the camera footage collated by Walmart as evidence and it WILL be legally permissible. And you do have the right to trial and to face your accuser. All video or camera footage these cameras mark as violations are reviewed and approved by an officer of the law. That is your accuser. That's who will have to appear in court.

I don't like red light cameras. I think they have been set up purely as a revenue generation scheme. But they don't violate your rights if implemented properly (which they tend to be these days).

You missed the part where the ticket is being issued by a "non-law enforcement" personnel/agency. It's like Walmart issuing you the ticket and you're denied a trail by jury of your peers.
