I think you're right. To me, inner-city means down town in the thick of it.

And, as I stated before, there is obviously a difference in prospective here,
because I, as a Texan, view anything not in the suburbs as inner-city.
Just gotta know the local lingo!

Well, I suppose anything within the city limits could be construed as inner-city......lol That usually isn't what it means though.

In California, the inner city is usually the rough part of the city, which has a location close to the downtown area. I see Texans have a happier view of the inner city.

I view the "inner city" as much closer in as well. But it don't matter none; those are some fantastic photographs and I'm thankful for the OP!

The inner city doesn't necessarily have to be "rougher" if you drive around Dallas you will find some very well kept neighborhoods that are blocks and within a few miles from downtown along side with areas that have been neglected. Just because a neighborhood is nice doesn't mean it can't be in the inner city, I'm pretty sure the same applies to the cities in CA.

I think the term that the OP was looking for was central Dallas. Not inner city. I think inner city Dallas and I think Oak Cliff, Red Bird, S Loop 12...
