So I've been searching through the Dallas Observer, D Magazine, and Guidelive event calendars online and, lo and behold, I can't find any Dallas-area "end of the world" events/parties happening. No, I don't think the world's going to end, but I sure would like to take advantage of the hoopla and take part in a "get smashed, act like it's our last day to live" sort of gathering.

Obviously, one could throw their own party, but I was hoping for an official event in Dallas or two. Anyone know of anything? I know most of the bars/clubs don't really advertise their "events" that often.

Shouldn't the events be on the night of the 20th? Or is the world ending on the 22nd? I was assuming the Mayans would be punctual and it would be like 12:01am when the Apocalypse starts.

But really semi-seriously, wouldn't it make more sense to have the "end of the world" party the night before the end of the world, because if it ends in the middle of the day you won't have a chance to get your groove on before.

That's why I said December 20th or the 21st.

Nope. It's just that the Mayans ran out of calendars, ergo, end of time.

I have my google calendar set up to the end of... anything/nothing. So I won't be joining the mayaniacs.

Probably not in your neck of the woods, but there's an "End-Of-The-World Zombie Apocalypse Party" at Churchill's in downtown Mckinney on Friday night.

There are people who believe that this is what the Mayans were referring to and that this is going to usher in a time of rebirth. In fact, there's a New Age global "festival" devoted to the idea this weekend with a couple of events in Dallas. Home

Yes! That's the event (for some reason, I thought it was called The Shift). I have a friend who is a big follower of Barbara Marx Hubbard.
