We are a family of four with two teenagers. Wife is a fifth grade school teacher, and I am now retired. We live in central Texas 40 miles west of Austin. We have visited Prosper two times in the past few months. I have been researching for an area with nice homes and very low crime, but within minutes of great malls, and outstanding schools. We believe we have found it in Prosper. Nice folks all around, so far. Frisco is amazing with retail. Cotton and hay fields right across the road from the enormous and jaw dropping beautiful high school of Prosper. We understand that Jerry Jones has plans for some high end retail, but land is running out in Prosper. We are selling our current residence in order to build new or buy used. Even a couple of our friends are considering the move. Don't care at all for Dallas, but Prosper is far enough away to make it civil and livable. Now just need to find some 12 and 13 year old boys who like to play "Mindcraft" on their X-boxes so my young boy can match up with them. Prosper, here we come as soon as possible!

It's called Minecraft and you don't need any one to come play with you. He can play with online buddies from his previous school, neighborhood, soccer team, cousins or random strangers. Prosper is a nice and cheaper exurb and if commute is not an issue than it may work for you and hundreds others from your current town that are flocking in Prosper's direction. Good luck! ;-)

Wow! I had no idea that Prosper is becoming dream destination for rest of the country. Good for them. I tried to open this link but fortunately/unfortunately I'm not a subscriber of DMN.

Thank you BY2B! So basically a construction zone for next ten years and builders with latest model of drywall as competition for resale. I think I'm fine where I'm and if I do move then it will be towards the city center not to outskirts but cheers to Prosper Cheerleaders. I guess people looking for country feel can move on to new pastures as well.

It's amazing how far North the suburban sprawl has progressed.

I wonder how long it will take for the North side of Fort Worth to sprawl and incorporate Denton into the metromess.

Nothing like an hour long commute to turn your dream into a nightmare. And what do you do if you lose your job in Frisco and the only other one is at DFW? People should consider living closer in and in a more central location.

Did the DMN just rewrite the Prosper press release, like they do for much of their other stories on so many other topics?

I haven't kept up with Ft. Worth, but the tollroad already hits 380, take a left and you're well on your way to Denton. Crazy! Last Saturday (little traffic) we took the tollroad to 380 from Royal and then cut over to Preston. Plano and Frisco seemed to fly by, though I never realized before how HUGE Frisco seems to be. I can see doing a commute like that on the weekends, but not during the week unless I worked in Frisco or Plano, which I suspect some in Prosper do. I'm curious how people in Prosper view the situation. If I wanted to live in a rural area, I would want a country feel. I don't think I'd be thrilled with being turned into another northern suburb.

Once again amazed at the number of people that think everyone commutes to the center of Dallas. Prosper is a short commute to the big corporate campuses in West Plano (JC Penney, HP, BoA, etc, etc). Frisco is a burgeoning job center as is McKinney. Not to mention that many work from home these days.

Dallas is a region now, it is not just one central city with bedroom communities anymore. That is a hard pill for some to swallow.....
