NO. Please don't flame me for this folks, gotta say what I gotta say here... IMHO, "hipsters" are self-absorbed, youngish know-it-alls who think they've experienced/seen/done it all in their short lives. Think of them as a Millennial version of the 80s/90s Yuppies. Very irritating to this meat & potatoes boomer! lol

If they drew the circle larger, it would hit the Belmont Hotel art gallery and Bishop Arts.

Very much a hipster scene.
I don't think the big haired blue-blooded ladies in fur coats every time it drops below 60 that haunt the Dallas Arts Disctric are hipsters. . .unless they're some weird, meta, next-level ironic brand of hipster, in which case, (pump chest twice) respect.

Oak Lawn & Design District and anywhere East of Central Expressway as well as North Oak Cliff.
People think Dallas is very one dimensional because the main tourist areas are very gentrified yuppy-ish.
But Dallas has pretty much any scene you're looking for. It's a big city.

I've lived here a few years after spending five in Austin. You aren't going to find a ton of Austin-style hipsters in Dallas, at least not all in one spot. Bishop Arts is the closest thing. Denton is pretty earthy and has a bit of a music scene. You'll be able to find community, but there's not a specific spot like South Congress or Lamar in Austin.

If you are looking for a part of town to live in, check out Little Forest Hills. There is a pool in Little Forest Hills run by fraternal order of eagles, it is a fun and low key place. Very welcoming to everyone.

- I second North Oak Cliff (Bishop Arts) -- but more like Texas Theater, Kessler Theater
- East Dallas (historic area - check out Pearl Cup, upcoming Green Grocers
- Cedars Social area
- Foundry Bar
- - I love the Fraternal Eagles Pool --- such a random recommendation. but you are right - totally full of hipsters (along with yuppie (hippy loving) parents like me, and everything else

East Dallas if you have school aged children, Oak Cliff if you don't.

Thanks for the advice. I've been looking into the Bishop Arts district. Is it a reasonable distance from DFW airport because that's where I work?

There's no easy, direct way to get from north Oak Cliff to DFW, especially if you work inside or on the north side of the airport. Your best option will be I30 to 190 toll road, to 183 into the airport. Be advised this route has heavy northbound traffic in the mornings thanks to the booming population in Mansfield and other southern suburbs.
