Hello,

New to the forum here, so please be gentle I am moving to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in May for my job and I am wondering where the best places are to live for young singles(20's to 30's)? I am 26, but I will be 27 by the time I move. Also, what are some of the most fun hot spots? I do like bars, clubs, and nightlife. I will be renting, obviously, and I luckily for me I can live anywhere in the DFW area bc I am a district sales manager and my territory is all of the DFW area. If anybody can help me on my questions, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Generally, the usual response to a 'where to live' question is 'where is the job'. Commutes in Dallas are not a lifestyle, or shouldn't be. The cool place in Dallas for a young professional is Uptown, just north of and very near to downtown Dallas. See McKinney Ave - parallel to and just west of US75. From about Pearl St to Knox St. And some of Oak Lawn, across Turtle Creek from Uptown. And easy access to I-30, 35, and 45, and other through routes.

The cool place in Fort Worth...> Dallas. Anything between Fort Worth and Dallas is commute territory.

Check out The Village too, further north and east of Uptown. Uptown is pricey, The Village is much more affordable. Lots of singles in their 20s and 30s there.

A word of caution about working your territory. Should you choose to live in Dallas and make that journey to a client in Fort Worth, try not to exhibit too much exuberance about your Dallas residency. Depending on your audience, you could lose a client.

OTOH, should you live in Fort Worth you probably wouldn't want to tell anyone in Dallas how great it is. Fort Worth is a great place, but if visiting Dallas you could find yourself alone in a big room.

BigD, is the Village an apartment complex, or a neighborhood? If it's a neighborhood, can you describe roughly where it is using cross streets?

Thanks much!

It's a group of apartments owned by Lincoln Properties. Basically Caruth, east of US-75 (between Lovers and Northwest Highway). Google - The Village Dallas

Boooring. Unless you're a student at UTA, there's no reason for a young single to live there.
