Question Honest opinion on Princeton

I'm thinking about having a house built out there. I am used to being about 10-15 minutes from a Wal Mart etc. so that is not really an issue but what about the area and also I would be driving to richardson for work do you think it will take a while to get there?
I also work 60 miles from where I work now so half that is not a big deal but I am just not sure if I want to do this. I know that I am very happy with the value but I could buy the same closer for a little more but probably could not build it myself so I am torn.
Thanks

WoW
Over the course of this thread I had my bags packed and was ready to move...then I checked out the topography. Too Flat.
I gotta have hills...and some green.
I'm in So Cal and just sold my house and want to take the equity and run to someplace safe and sane to raise my 4 kids 4-15...but WHEREJ!?!
Looked at NC and VA -toofar and too right, and am currently narrowing it down from WA UT ID ...Idaho looks great but the crime index is high for being so rural and the oddest thing...the greatest crime is rape. I hesitate to speculate on WHY that IS since this is a family forum, but EW!!!
Utah and WA are top on my list now...CO is too full of traffic.
Everything's too.
It's tough to leave paradise, LOL, but paradise is expensive...I'm in Santa Barbara - rapidly becoming a RICH retirement community full of Latino renters.
sorry, but true.
Santa Maria is 65% Latino now, not that there's anything wrong with that! Of course, English being a second language for the entire state is making it harder to find a job since I'm not bilingual and took German in high school.
Is this becoming a rant? Sorry. sheepish grin

There has to be somewhere with blue skies and water and low crime and inexpensive housing and snowy peaks and good schools and MYOB neighbors SOMEwhere in the USof A

But, where..............

best,
:O)

Traveling south on 75 can be a major nightmare during rush hour, be careful when it comes to your commute.

I was also interested in finding a job within commuting distance of the 75407 zip code so I could get 3-10 acres, have livestock, and learn homesteading skills. Richardson seems in the grey area of how far would be tollerable.

monitor the areas you are thinking about. Today, 75 doesn't look so bad, but really, it's not alot of fun to sit in.

If you feel that your quality of life will be better out there, go for it! I don't think that Richardson is too far if you had been driving 60 miles prior. LR Caldwell builds homes out there, you might want to check him out. I heard he is good at what he does. This is only by what I have heard. My brother wants him to build him a house out that way one day. He currently is in Greenville.

As for the poster from Santa Barbara, we don't have alot of flat areas. I used to live in the south part of Dallas where they say that hill country begins. That ridge goes all the way through Central Texas. Flower Mound and Argyle too are not exactly flat either with much nature abound. No snowy peaks here but we do have our snow in the winter many a times and ice. Instead of concentrating on snowy caps and water places, think of quality of life and what you want for yourself and your family. I lived in Florida near the ocean and it was nice but I tell you living in Texas has it's share of wonderful things to do and DFW is a really good place to raise a family.

Unhappy Princeton sucks

Honest opinion? We lived there fo 6 years, it is full of drug dealers, prostitutes, corruption and no protection for honest law abiding tax paying citizens by any law officials. We were harrassed, assaulted, threatened and literally driven from our home in fear of our lives. There is no amount of money that would be enough to make us live in that hell again. I hope you read this and don't make the mistake we did.

Default Honest opinion on Princeton

I am sorry for Jodijim1 who had a bad experience in Princeton.
We moved to Princeton 1 year ago, not in one of the new development, but in an established neighborhood. The price was good, better than in most place because the land is still affordable. We met so many nice people, we get involved in activities and don't think I am blind, or have pink colored lenses. I know the town needs a "clean up"
The town which has been dormant for years, is facing a sudden growth and have to adjust. The crimes [all kinds] come with the growth, because people
brings themselves as they are, they don't change when moving.
It is not that I don't believe in personal imprvement, it just that you will find
the same thing everywhere....except in the middle of nowhere.
I would like to know where you found all those bad people, because I would like to check it myself and direct my findings to the police department.
Wish you the best in your new environment.

Default Junkyard

Princeton is a junkyard!!!

Stop trying to make it sound better than it is. I know because I live there.

Move to Farmersville, They seem to have a good idea on how to improve a small town.

Farmersville is prettier to be honest. But Princeton will get better. The new city administration is trying really hard to bring in new developments. Just keep your eye on it. It is going to be really BIG!!
And yes, they are trying to clean it up too.
