The ones you're referring to across from NP don't feed into HPISD.

They are kind of kitty corner across from NorthPark - at the southwest corner of Caruth & NW Hwy - and only certain units closer to Durham St. are within the HPISD school boundaries.

Correct, and none of those go for 200K.

Half of them do- the ones closer to Durham. The complex is called NorthPark Gardens or something like that. If you're old enough to remember the retired famous AP US History teacher , D Smith, he lived there and his son went through HP schools. The complex is kind of like the CrestPark in HP where half is HPISD and half is DISD.

This currently looks to be the cheapest actually property in HPISD right now, minus the apartments for sale at the Palomar.

Property @ 514K

Cheapest 2 bed apartment @ 379K

There's a 2/2.5 listed at $265k for sale right now. The HPISD units only add about $50k in value over the DISD units. It's a steal and the only real negative is being so far away from the school campuses.

7404 W Northwest HWY 1
Dallas 75225
HIGHLAND PARK / UNIVERSITY PARK
Highland Park ISD
Beds 2, Baths 2.1
$265,000
HOA $650/month
MLS# 13000705

I was going off the listing page for the property. There was one at a lower price point that I was looking at for an investment (since sold) but they are definitely zoned to HPISD. Regardless, 265 for a 1500 sq ft condo is doable.

If I were a single parent and was willing to deal with whatever issues it would bring- this is cheaper than some units Uptown.

well, ok, there is ONE under 300k in the whole district. And with this monthly HOA, it would be (roughly) like paying a mortgage on a property that's 100k more (say approx. 4.5% interest, 2% property tax)
