Yopu are correct. We spend TONS of money on Mexico in many different ways. We ARE their welfare program. I too have vactationed there and saw the "shanty" towns the people live in. They need to start protesting their own government for the mistreatment they endure, not ours.

But as long as OUR government keeps allowing them to stay here, and handing over everything in the process, they arent gonna protest their own government.

You are close . . . unless it benefits the owners/operators of the Dallas Morning News, and kindred CorpRat souls. That is what it is all about.

Starting to sound like you peasants are revolting. I am sure they would agree -- you are very revolting.

Your Betters already have a plan in process. Would you just be good patridiotic Americans and go along? Why do you hate freedom?

My question is how can a so called professional journalist write an article that is little more than regurgitating an online message board? Does she lack the skill to write anything with merit? I doubt I could get away this in English 101.

I just get tired of the useless diatribe spit forth by the bleeding hearts like Ms. Floyd. They can never present a valid argument and simply resort to name calling, or pulling the race card. Again even someone in freshmen English would be held to a higher standard.

God forbid we expect people to follow our laws, and respect the sovereignty of the USA.

Since she feels laws aren't worth following does that mean someone can just break into her home or perhaps steal her car? I hope she wouldn't call the police or press charges, that would be discriminating against criminals.

Argh! I don't like commenting on these kinds of threads because it's so aggravating!

I hate it when people pull the race card, God Almighty it's not about race! Sheesh! What part of ILLEGAL do some of these people not understand? And like a pp said, the Mexican government is not taking care of its own, their citizens are desperate for a better way of life. Somehow our government needs to hold their government accountable for basic human services and opportunities. I do feel sorry for these people individually but the sheer numbers of them are nothing to sneeze at and something needs to be done.

And the answer is not to put up a fence at the border. It may work in California but Texas city officials at the border aren't going to put up with it if they can help it. Alot of people and ranches, etc., rely on the river and a fence will just hurt them. I heard some of these officials talking about this on the radio.

The column is pretty elementary but it does have a point maybe some people just don't want to face. To many people, the whole issue is about race. Plenty of y'all would welcome a Canadian or Scandanavian with open arms and without question before a Mexican. Disprove me!

Now here's one ugly example: my sister (mid-20s) just moved to the Arlington area and was called a "beaner" by her new boyfriend's dad. That was a first... He could've at least gotten the slur correct! We can't help but laugh because she is 100% Caucasian (West and South European ancestry from the 1800s), with medium-brown hair and somewhat of an olive Mediterranean tan from the summer.

This issue isn't completely about race. We all know that. But what we know and can't stand to admit is definitely a big part of it, especially in North Texas.

But if it makes you happy, y'all can just continue to pretend it isn't the issue. They say if you ignore it enough, the issue will be no longer!

Easy. I don't approve of illegal immigrants no matter where they're from, and I welcome LEGAL immigrants to this country no matter where they're from. Everybody who is in this country illegally needs to go the hell home.

I agree with you 100%. You don't hear screaming about a fence between the US and Canada.

Most people here illegally came here legally on student or tourist visas and never left... so I'm not sure how building a fence would solve the problem anyway.

If you don't mind cursing, this video is quite entertaining on the topic:

Probably because there aren't thousands of Canadians sneaking into the country each day, and because there aren't millions of Canadians already here demanding amnesty.

I believe something like 1/10th of Mexicos population is already in the U.S., and of those that are left, half want to be here. You can Hardly say the same for Canada.

Again, the only people who make this nationality issues rather than an immigration issue are the pro illegals.
