I know Central Market gives classes, not sure how romantic it is for a date though.

Sur LaTable has it's own date night that is instructional and gives some great tips and great atmosphere. This weekend is Gourmet Tuscan Date Night.

Also to talk up Central Market, I've never had a bad experience with any employees at either the Lovers and Greenville location or the one in Preston Hollow. My wife was at the location in Preston Hallow yesterday looking for Oyster Sauce, Orange Zest and Wonton Wraps. After looking an employee stopped her to see if she needed help and proceeded to help her look for a good 5 minutes. He then said let me ask someone who knows the entire store. He told them where the Oyster and Wonton things were, but stated they didn't have Orange Zest. Happy my wife proceeded to checkout and before she was done, the employee brought her a "sample" of Orange zest he had someone make for her special int he back. We already use them now for our grocery needs, but they have customers for life now!

I don't think you can go wrong with either Central Market or Surlatable. Just be sure you sign up for a hands-on class because some are demonstration only. After the Surlatable class, you get a 10% discount to use on most anything in the store.
