Default Lamplighter or HPISD

We were lucky enough to have our son accepted to Lamplighter's Pre-K. Does anyone have experience with how Lamplighter does with boys? He is bright, but very energetic and I worry about an environment which is too rigid.

Thoughts?

Well, 1) HPISD doesn't offer PreK so where else would your son go next year?

And 2) I don't think Lamplighter is known for being very "rigid"; I've always heard it more described as Montessori "light". What impression did you get on your visit?

IMO if you have the bucks I'd go Lamplighter. It's a phenomenal school that will keep his future private school options more open than HP. HP is a fine school Lamplighter is an exceptional school.

Go with ESD and find a house close to school. Dropping kids off and picking them up and living more than 5 min away just drags the day out for everyone. Good luck!

Thanks TX75007. We actually live close to the Lower School, so happy about the drive. But were trying to make a decision on the merits of the school and experience for our son. That said having an easy drive will be such a blessing. And the Middle/Upper School is not a bad drive either. (But this is the very reason we bought where we did vs over in Lakewood which we love as well... not to digress)

Thanks EDS_ for the words of encouragement. Lot to stress about, but also fun process and great new stage of our life.

Redgaucho - my vote would be for Lamplighter. HPISD will always be an option for you, and if you don't like it you can always change after a year.
