Greetings veuvegirl! We've just moved here from California via 3 years in Arkansas. We love it, we are in the Corinth/S. Denton area. It is 35 minutes to the major airports, just minutes to Lake Lewisville and we love the schools. We are in The Preserve at Pecan Creek. My twin 4th grade boys ride their bikes to and from school and my 7th grade daughter is in all AP classes and symphony, excellent music programs here. Next year she is choosing to go to the new, state-of-the-art middle school called Bettye Myer Middle School. All classrooms will be utilizing notebooks and provide docking stations.

Our neighborhood has some new 4000+ SF homes under construction in the mid to upper $300's. We bought a 3400 SF completely revamped HUD home with 4BR, office, 3.5 BA, new roof, new carpets, heated pool & spa & 3-car garage for $245K. WE ARE LOCING IT here.

Dentondave, if your daughter is taking college level classes in 7th grade, then I am impressed with both your daughter and Bettye Myer Middle School. (AP classes are college level classes taught in the high school and AP exams are administered by the College Board for possible college credits)

It would be rather interesting to watch the 7th graders take something like Physics C .

I am relatively new here but even I can tell that drive from Denton to airports and Dallas office would be really really bad. I wouldn't do it even if they offered AP classes to my 4th grader.

Since schools are your number one priority, the following schools or districts are what many on this forum consider the top tier publics in DFW.
1. Highland Park
2. Plano West
3. Coppell
4. Southlake Carroll
5. Flower Mound Marcus (I think this is the FM school that is highly rated.)

Someone keeps a blog with data (SAT, NMSF, etc) about the various Dallas area high school. Not sure what the name of the blog is, but maybe someone else can provide that info.

Since you seem to have some flexibility with location, I would start by researching the school districts.

You can't get a home in Highland Park for under $500k. Take it off the list.

Thanks so much! Yes, one of my friends said Highland Park would be the place, but similar to Short Hills NJ x 5, I know it is too much. Thanks for the feedback!
