When I mean modern I mean in the context of architecture and infrastructure (e.g. lots of glass buildings, fewer buildings of classical design, sleek transit systems, good roads, etc.). Clean I think speaks for itself. I guess the extreme example would be Dubai..

As a relative newbie, I would say that so far, my experience has been that the answer is "pretty much". Which only means at least architecturally that there is plenty of modern architecture, but quite a wide variety of other styles as well. We have something for everyone! But seriously, I'd say overall Dallas is more modern than, say, Atlanta, which to my mind is post-modern central.

From the few cities I've traveled to in the US, Dallas is also one of the cleanest.

Modern and clean? Relatively, yes. Pretty? God, no.

you can use google street view to get your answer. Dallas is a relatively young city so there isn't a lot of classical design and our transportation system is more utilitarian than sleek. If you like the work of Pei, you will like Dallas. He was quite prolific here for a bit.

I don't think comparing small cities to Dallas is really fair. But agreed, Austin is prettier with the little river and the hills. I think Dallas is a pretty city compared to the other top 10(by population) cities in the US.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

It's worth noting that you are the first person who has ever made that argument to me. Even people I know who love Dallas admit that it is not a very attractive city, aesthetically-speaking.
