Need REAL commute times from those who actually drive this routes every day to Galleria from Colleyville, Coppell and Grapevine around 8AM there and 6PM back....

Did you read through the comments about commuting on this Ft. Worth thread?

Yes...but most refer to commutes to Downtown Dallas....
I'm going to 635/Dallas Tollway.....I've heard people tell me 30 minutes while others say 1 hour...... I've only experienced this drive 4 times during rush hours (mornings and afternoons) and all 4 were about 30 to 35 min there and 40/45 min back. Some people told me I was crazy (as if I lied) others told me that was about right......I would like to hear from those who might actually do this drive..... Quote:

My wife works in that area, but we line at Abrams/Walnut Hill in the Lake Highlands area. It takes her about 25 minutes in both directions - she takes Abrams up to Royal, then across to the Dallas North Tollway, so her drive is mostly on surface streets.

So you would take Airfield Rd towards Walnut Hill?

I have had several morning appointments near the Galleria and from Coppell 20-25 minutes without traffic and up to 40 minutes in heavy traffic in the mornings. But I don't do this everyday so not sure what the "norm" is. Generally it has never really taken me much longer than 35 minutes if I am leaving between 8-9am. Not sure about coming home though. Nice thing about Coppell is 635 is easy to get to.

I would say that the commute to the Galleria is as short as 20 minutes, up to 40 at the very most.
I've lived in Coppell 20 years, and although I don't make the commute daily, I've driven it countless times! With the development west of Coppell, it has gotten worse than it used to be. Actually, turning and going towards Colleyville and Grapevine (past Coppell)in the afternoons is the worst traffic.... (I love coppell by the way!) |

Before that portion, you should have clear sailing on I635 in the a.m. from Colleyville/Coppell & Grapevine until you reach MacArthur & I635.... commuter traffic starts backing up at the I635/I35 interchange (because of five lanes going down to only two thru lanes continuing on I635 and merging traffic both north and south from I35). On a great morning and no backup, from MacArthur/I635 to the Galleria would be only 10-15 minutes... but on a bad morning traffic on I635 can be backed up all the way to MacArthur/I635 (2-3 mile backup to I635/I35 interchange). It could take you 30-45 minutes just from this point to get to the Galleria. This is the reason for the upcoming construction on this interchange that will hopefully relieve this congestion. The same happens in reverse in the evenings. Congestion from the Galleria to the I635/I35 interchange... then clear sailing once you get past it. However, it's all about timing in the a.m. If you leave earlier... and get to this point... MacArthur/I635... in the morning no later than 7:30 a.m. (7:00 a.m. even better), there will rarely, if ever (barring no accidents on I635), be any traffic tie-up whatsoever and clear sailing all the way to the Galleria! In the evening, it's a hit or miss... regardless of the day or time between 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m... the traffic can be heavy & stopped... or moving... you never know... but this is only a 4-mile stretch from the Galleria to the I635/Tollway interchange to the I635/I35 interchange... so just grin and bear with it... knowing it'll break up immediately when you get to the I635/35 interchange... EVERY DAY! Hope this helps! |
