OOPS!
Did you mean Moss Creek? After just a wee bit of digging this morning, I found a Moss Creek Lake out by Big Spring, and that is DEFINITELY west of DFW. Way west!

Lake Tawakoni seemed to be OK when we visited it, but my hubby and I went to look at some property a few miles from there and we feared for our lives. It was in a mobile home park. The guy failed to give us that information prior to us going to see the property. Everyone had mullets, was playing hackey sack and looked extremely poor. There were NO minorities in this trailer park...all white people. One trailer had shrink wrap around a frame and a family was sitting at the table eating and watching TV. One guy was driving down the dirt road with a Rottweiler next to him. The Rott had his front "arm" hanging out the window. It was a really scary place. We literally turned an drove out as fast as we could.

I also work with a lady from Lake Tawakoni and she has lots of missing teeth and is rather slow. Granted not everyone is that way, but that was and is my impression of this area.

Stick to fishing and weekending, but I would NOT want my kids going to school there or being raised remotely close to there!

"One trailer had shrink wrap around a frame"

Curiosity is getting the best of me...what? Was it like a sun porch or something? LOL

It was a community outside of Wills Point (about 2 miles from Tawakoni and on the way to Wills Point. I don't recall the name of it.

I actually grew up dirt poor in a trailer park myself. I'm sure everyone was very nice but they gave us the "outsider" look and didn't look really pleased we were driving through their neighborhood. It was super uncomfortable and we had the feeling we were about to get confronted (or robbed). We felt really sorry for the fact these people had to live in those conditions. But when I grew up, I didn't know we were dirt poor so I didn't think anything of it at all. I'm greatful for a warm roof over my head, the military and my college degree which got me out of the "park".

The lake is really nice in Tawakoni.
