Hello To All,

We are a Muslim family of four coming from Jordan( two boys 4,2 years), thinking to move to Plano or Richardson, appreciating any feed back on the below:

1-how much it will cost me monthly to rent a house with two bedroom, in a safe area, near a Muslim
community and within a walking distance from an Islamic school.

2- how much the cost of living for a modest family of four, excluding housing and health insurance.

3- is there a good Islamic schools around, any recommendations.

4-is there any intolerance toward Muslims from the Middle East.

5- how is the weather there, I do hate rain, cold and snow so preferring mild weather.

First off, welcome to DFW and to the Plano/Richardson area. First off, for my perspective, Im Lebanese, but Christian and from California.

1) It really depends. There is one available for rent in my neighborhood for about $1600 per month. The rentals really depend on the area and can start at about $1100 depending on the area. By the Muslim communities, youre really looking at the areas ranging from half a mile east to about 1.5 miles west of 75 in the cities of Richardson, Plano, and Allen. I would add Allen to areas to consider because the schools are great and the Muslim concentration is large.

2) If you cook in every night and dont drive much, maybe $2500.

3) Furqaan Academy Collin County | Islamic School for Plano, Allen, Dallas, Eastern Plano, Richardson, North Dallas

Home | Islamic School of Irving

Brighter Horizons Academy

Islamic Academy for Islamic knowledge. Learn Now in English-Urdu

Islamic Association of Collin County

Peace Academy Magnet School

https://plus.google.com/106462229352...ut?gl=us&hl=en

Maybe one of those will work?

4) In this area, Muslims are so common and prevalent that I dont think you would encounter any issues whatsoever. Im not saying we dont have some morons running around, but those will be the exception not the rule.

5) It does get cold between the end of November and Mid-February, but compared to other American cities, the winters are extremely mild. Spring is our rainy season and it will rain a couple of times a week. Our summers are very hot.

Hope that helps!

My first question to you is were will your job be located. There plenty of Muslims in the DFW area so you will not fill like a outsider. Hopefully someone else can offer you suggestions on Islamic schools. They winters here are fairly mild but it does get hot in the summer. In general the cost of living is a little higher in the northern sections of Dallas.

I know that east Plano and Murphy have a number of Islamic citizens and I have not heard of any problems.

Some resources that you might find helpful:
Islamic Association of Collin County
East Plano Islamic Center

Sorry I don't know about the schools.

There is a big Muslim/Arab community in Richardson near Spring Valley Road and Abrams Road. It's an affordable area and there are plenty of rentals. If you go there than probably they can provide more information.

You're thinking of the Islamic Association of North Texas on Centennial.

You are right. I didn't read the name of the place but it was near Afrah Mediterranean. Afrah's food was delicious.
