Hi,

Have been lurking this website for a long time for information about our move from Kansas city to dallas. I see a lot of wonderful information but nowhere could find a list of apartments that feed in to good schools in the plano area. Do you know any that you absolutely loved?

We plan to rent it for a short while and begin our house search. I have heard about centennial elementary and barksdale having great reviews.

We will be moving at the end of may with our soon to be 2nd grader. Schools are very important to us.

Thanks so much for your valuable time,

Sonika

Hi Sonika, We moved from Topeka, KS 4 weeks back. We visited Plano once in Feb to get a feel of the area as well as look at apartments. Yes, you are right Centennial/Brinker/Barksdale are v good elem schools, but the apartments feeding into them are very old. We saw many around these schools but wanted a newer place. Our son starts kindergarten this fall so obv school was a top priority for us. We'll be looking to buy a house soon. Our son will be attending Riddle Elem in Frisco ISD though our apt is in Plano.

You can check Madison @ Willow Bend, Bentley Place, Marquis, La Ventura Apartments, Reserve @ Charles Place, Brooks on Preston, Villas on Preston, Camden Legecy.

Hope this helps.

These are very nice and location is awesome. You can walk to the Willow bend Mall and Barksdale.

Another great community with amazing location feeding to Brinker in Legacy area is the best neighborhood to rent if you want to walk to shopping and dining.

All three complexes are newer and have good management.

The Livingston, west Plano, great safe gated community, with apartments and town homes, some residents have been there for 10+ years, they usually have very low availability, only a few units come open every year, as most people don't look elsewhere. Great location, close to tollway off windhaven.

Also you could consider Domaine Apts, one of the newer ones in Plano.

Or the ones over in East Richardson at Renner and Northstar or 14th and Los Rios in Plano that feed to PISd schools. Clearwater Creek, Los Rios Apts and Breckinridge Point.

I just went through this, be careful with corporate housing, may not be enough to establish residence for PISD. That's what they told my wife anyhow, so we rented at Avalon at Chase Oaks which feeds into Rasor Elementary, They charge a 50% upcharge for a flexible lease which cane to $1750 for our 2 Bdrm. Was a nice apartment complex but was happy to move into a home after 4 month.

BTW, Rasor doesn't get high marks on Greatschools.org but my child was really happy there. It gets slammed a lot for being zoned with 'apartment people', I was one of them and you maybe too

I know that Oakwood provides you paperwork for temporary admission, once you buy your home then you can turn in your new documents. You are coming in April, I would not send kids now. Get them a tutor and send in fall for new school year.
