I agree with the Katy Trail. However, I will say that I would be very aware of your surroundings while running pre-dawn. Attacks have happened, especially on the south end of the trail where you will be running. Be safe.

Excellent point! I missed the pre-dawn part of his OP. In that case, I would NOT recommend the Katy Trail. It's a mostly closed trail with only a handful of entry/exit points - great during daylight to avoid traffic, but not good for safety when the trail isn't running at normal people levels.

You'd be better off sticking to street running through uptown & Turtle Creek. You can run up Cedar Springs to Blackburn, right on Blackburn over to McKinney, down McKinney straight back into downtown. Generally the same loop as Katy Trail but on surface streets. Safer & there won't be much traffic to contend with at that hour.
