New job in Westlake, drive from McKinney is getting old (and expensive). School is out in June, and I'm thinking of checking out the following ISD's. Opinion's...info?

Northwest ISD (Kay Granger Elem. specifically) This local gets me a 10 min drive to work.

Coppell ISD (Cottonwood Elem.) This gets me past toll way, but still a 20-25 min drive to work.

These are just what I came up with today. Will want to rent to make sure of area, want to get my toll charges under control. Wife works from home, so no issues there.

Ideas? Want to keep rent under $2000 so that ruled out most of Southlake & Westlake. Those that were available were so for a reason...

Yeah, that drive would be awful, and the tolls would definitely add up!

Did you look in Trophy Club? Not sure how many rentals there will be, but it might be worth a look...
Also, parts of far north Fort Worth and Keller would work, too. Stay east of 35.

Moving makes sense and so does renting. You'll have to find a local realtor, they really are free of cost for the tenant.

Yeah, the one's that were available at that price were built in the late 80's and haven't been updated. Maybe even same carpet.

If I paid over $2500 I can find some nice places, but really want to stay under $2k so my kids can enjoy summer camps & our annual vacation.

You could look in Grapevine, but I doubt you will find more houses for rent. DM me if you want the name of a local realtor who manages Grapevine rental properties.

You might also look in north Euless, and North Richland Hills.

I doubt you'll find anything in Coppell in your price range.

txgolfer, first of all, welcome to my neighborhood.

Coppell is great location. However, traffic will be an issue for a while due to the massive project north (and northwest) of DFW airport. I'd recommend looking in Grapevine, along Dove Road, or just to the west of it, along TX-114. You should be able to find a pretty nice place for the price.

Trophy club or Roanoke might be an option-Actually drive around the towns and you will probably find for rent by owner-I have seen a couple doing this this past weekend-if you want apartments there are some in Roanoke-Boulder Ridge/Copper Ridge-etc will fit your budget-we stayed here for a few months while building our house-they also give you a a credit for a couple hundred $$ if your work for preferred employers-If it's the financial firm in Westlake you are working for then you would probably get it. As for the school district NWISD is solid-we have been very happy with the schools-I have an elementary child as well as kids that attend Byron Nelson High School. Working in Westlake is a cinch-takes about 7 mins to work plus 5 for the coffee shop! S/lake is 6 mins down the road-Roanoke has some good places to eat out-and plenty of parks as well as Trophy club Park and grapevine Lake-lots and lots of kids if that helps!

How about Castle Hills? You can technically skip the toll if you take the service road. It will probably add 5 more minutes... Castle hills elementary is good!

Why would you rent instead of buying if you're willing to pay $2,000/month?

Owning, buying, selling homes is expensive so its a good idea to rent if you are not sure about the job, area, house etc.
