I'm sure some of the Dallas residents here have noticed the anti-abortion protesters near Greenville and Walnut Hill near Jason's Deli, which is near to a Planned Parenthood clinic.

Today my BF and I went to that Jason's and parked the car. The windows were down and we were finishing a conversation before going into the restaurant. One of the anti-abortion protesters came over to her car, which was parked next to ours. She saw that our windows were rolled down, so she attempted to hand me a card with a picture of Jesus on one side and a prayer on the other. I politely refused it. She held it out again, saying "I'm not charging you for it." We both said "No thank you" a bit more firmly. She said, "It's free, come on." My BF snapped "NO THANK YOU," so she tried to place the card on the car's dashboard. He said, "No, goddammit, please go away!"

She turns away and roots around in her car. Turns around and asks us if we're going to be eating at Jason's. We said yes. She said she was going there too...whoopdee doo. I kind of rolled my eyes. She said, "Jesus loves you even if you reject him." I said "That's nice, thank you." She turns away and appears to walk off towards the restaurant. I rolled up my window, only to see her come back out of the corner of my eye with a booklet in her outstretched hand. She saw that my window was rolled up and finally left us alone. BF and I looked at each other, said "Good Eats," and left.

I thought she was REALLY rude. We already said "no thank you" politely. Why did she have to be so pushy? I don't like being rude to people like that, but I felt like I was forced to be.

There are nut jobs everywhere. I can not stand people like that no matter what issue they are pushing. I myself would NEVER do that or act like that. It is one thing to just kindly offer the handout but to keep on going after being rebuffed KINDLY is just plain RUDE!

Oh, and I'm a Christian and I too would have gone somewhere else and I also would have turned down the card/flyer. Sadly, people like that give the whole bunch a bad name .

Whew, I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks so. I felt like an a-hole for having to get rucky with her but I really don't like people shoving their religious beliefs down my throat.

When Christianity is pushed by some cheap-flyer and high handed salesmanship, it cheapens our religion. We have to tell these folks that it could be considered taking the Lord's name in vain to promote religion in such a cheap way.

Regrettably, these types care more promoting those "biblical" passages where Jesus said that it was not violative of the United States Constitution for a state to have a law banning abortion. I believe Jesus discussed it in the First Book of Republican Patsy's, Chapter 4, verse 3.

Well how did she take the G-D word? I thought that was kind of funny.

I remember the first time I saw "Jesus Christ - He's the real thing" in Coca-Cola script on a bumper sticker in the 70s. As hamilton said, it cheapens the message. I also hated the commercialization of "I found it" or whatever that was around the same time.

Remember the guy that would go up and down Forest Ln back in the early 80's w/ the HUGE wooden cross? I had a lil confrontation w/ him. He came up to me and a friend (from church ) and started telling us we were "sinners and going to Hell". Um, "yes, I am a sinner as are you. BUT, I'm saved and going to Heaven". I remember we had HUGE crowd gather round us as we kept pointing out his crap was wrong.

Does anyone remember when the corner of Elm and Ervay seemed like a revival. It seemed like there we self proclaimed preachers on all four corners. Bible in one hand and the other hand in the air.
Theres a time and place for everything, THAT definitely was NOT the place, TIMEING thats a matter of judgement.

Thats what the subject of this thread reminds me of.

There was one caddy corner to the Gypsy Tea Room a couple years ago. My husband and I had just left a concert at the venue, and here's this moron on the corner with the typical hellfire and brimstone rhetoric. drunkards are going to hel, blah, blah, blah. I was perfect sober and just tore up one dise and down the other. I don't think he took too kindly to when I told him that god loves everyone and that if anyone was going to hell it would be a$$hol3s like him who think they have the right to judge.
