I've never heard of the Alamo Drafthouse until stumbling upon this thread, so I'm going to say that having a location in your city does not determine whether or not your city is hip.

You're not from Texas, so you can be forgiven for not knowing.

But...you don't know.

*pats you on the head*

It's less than a mile from my house and we've known about this for quite a long time.

We're hoping the hipsters won't take over. They're already crowding up some of the best ethnic restaurants in the area with their iPadding eyerollery.

"Hipster" was another term I had never heard before I started visiting the City-Data forums. I've yet to hear someone I know use that term in real life. LOL.

Yep, see last year's previous thread where this was first announced: Alamo Drafthouse is coming to Richardson!

Alamo Drafthouse isn't just in Texas anymore. Lots of people who've never set foot in Texas have heard of Alamo Drafthouse as they are now in California, Colorado, New York, Michigan, and Virginia and they do their Rolling Roadshows in various spots across the country. Not being a Texan is no longer an excuse.
