You're right, I wouldn't fit in there either.

I can't think of a single tradition from Hillcrest.

Default Improving Casa View

We bought our house just this summer in the Casa View area, and so far it's great and we love it. However, I would like to be part of an organization with goals on improving the area and ultimately increasing property value. When it comes to buying a house, people always say location, location, location. I want Casa View to be that desirable location. I think what we need is an organization that is focused on the unity in the community; having block parties, welcoming new neighbors, and generally feeling safe.

Now, as far as I can tell Casa View doesn't have this, but if anyone can direct me to an HOA of some sort in the area or has tips for generating one, please let me know. Thanks so much!!!

Funny looking at some of these old posts. I think if you stay west or north of ferguson you should be pretty good. It's still a fairly nice area. There are still many original owners in the area. The middle and high schools aren't great but Hexter elem on the other side of garland rd in old lake highlands is a great school, exemplary. Casa Linda estates are close by and are very nice. San Juan Heights is a still a nice area. I think people drive through garland road and ferguson and assume all of the neighborhoods are seedy like parts of the main drag.

Casa Linda Estates and Lochwood areas are especially nice..lots of good MCM homes in all those areas. You just have to get off Garland Road or NW Highway and explore. Probably a lot of people have never even been in Forest Hills (served by exemplary Sanger) - I think the trees there are the tallest in Dallas - and on almost 1/2 acre lots.

It does seem like the houses get a little nicer once you cross over Ferguson. But I rent a house north of Eastfield College in the "Casa View Heights" area and the area looks rougher than it actually is. All of my neighbors are very nice people and I haven't experienced any crime here. In fact, there would be nothing wrong with the place at all if some people took care of their property a little better.

Please Join a neighborhood crime watch organization in your neighborhood. Also get involved in the Ferguson Road Initiative and the group that is working with the Garland Road improvement. Also, join the Harry Stone Recreation Center. These 4 ideas will plug you into the area
