Default Emerald Lakes Estates - Garland NEED ADVICE!

Im really interested in a neighborhood thats at the end of Wynn Joyce Rd. close to Lake Ray Hubbard. I really don't know much about Garland and I wanted to know if its in a safe area and if the surrounding area is safe. I heard Garland has some crime problems and I wanted to be sure and safe before I take leap.

Garland is safe. It is VERY SAFE and just as safe as the other "northern" burbs. It is a much larger city than most though. There are no more crime problems in Garland than there is in Plano, Frisco or McKinney. The area you are talking about is near Eastern Hills Country Club and a nice older neighborhood. There are lower rent apartments scattered along Broadway close by but it does not effect the Eastern Hills area. Most people don't even know that Eastern Hills CC is tucked back in there and where your referring to is even further back.

Thanks for the info. Do you know anything about the Harbor Point development? Are they tearing down those old apartments to make the area look better?

There are several apartment complexes in Garland that the city condemned and took possession of and tore down or will be tearing down.

Harbor Point is where the new Bass Pro Shop is located. There are a couple of restaurants there w/ docks on the back at the lake. Really nice for days on the water or just to go out and sit on the deck and eat/drink. The condos in that area though are from the 1980's Savings & Loan crash w/ fraudulant loans and all. Couple of people went to prison over it. I'd avoid a condo or anything on the east side of I-30. Hopefully, the new development going on over on that side will help.
