Are you single? If so, I don't recommend McKinney, there just isn't many places for singles to congregate. Depending on how old you are, I MIGHT recommend West Plano, around the Shops at Legacy. Lots of 20-30 something professionals living near there, and has a decent night life.

If you're in your 20's, single, no kids, then I'd recommend Uptown area (near downtown Dallas) as the place to be.

Thanks for the info. I'm late 30s, single and no kids. Not worried so much about singles nightlife, not interested in it. I have no problems meeting women in my line of work. As long as there are a variety of grocery stores, movie theater, a Best Buy and some good restaurants, I'll be alright. Just don't want to end up somewhere on the ghetto side which I heard east Plano can be.

Plano would definitely be your cup of tea then, somewhere on the West side close to the Tollway/Shops at Legacy area, or a little more central Plano, around Park and Preston Rd, where there's tons of retail, restaurants and grocery stores.

Plano sucks. The east side has become old and is beginning to get run down. The west side is ostentatious. Of course most of the Dallas area is like that as you will soon find out. But anything is better then Cali.

Where do you live then? I was also looking at Frisco.

From what you are describing Frisco would be perfect for you from what you have described so far. Everything you could want is there. Also, west Plano.. close to shops at Legacy(As mentioned by another poster) would also be a good fit for you. I do advise living close to 121 though vs. North Frisco.

Sometimes the problem with telling you to stay out of some areas is it offends certain posters here because they live there. Just do yourself and stay away from east Plano!

Looking at all of Tommy Tucker's posts, he seems to live in Louisiana.
