4 families with 5 kids (3 to 9-yr olds) are planning for a Christmas vacation near DFW. We are willing to drive 100 miles for a family oriented but relaxing atmosphere. Budget is about $150-200 per night.

Any suggestions?

Gaylord Texas is nice. Great Wolf Lodge is also there in Grapevine, but that is quite the kid zone. I think I'd consider driving farther and go to Barton Creek near Austin.

Kids in that age range would absolutely die for Great Wolf Lodge. Lots of stuff to do in and out of the water park. But don't wait much longer, reserve now for Christmas. Find their website and "like" their FB page. You'll get discounts first before they hit the regular website.

Tanglewood Resort and Conference Center on Texoma might be more relaxing than The Gaylord or Great Wolf.

Completely agree with Great Wolf! How can you go wrong with an indoor water park?!

great wolf would be a lot more than $150-$200 per night. More like double or triple that especially during christmas.

There arent many resorts in Dallas or near Dallas. Dallas isnt exactly a tourist destination. Why are you deciding on going to Dallas to a resort? I find this interesting.

There's also Rough Creek Lodge in Glen Rose, although it might not meet your budget requirements, especially that week. But it's super nice and super fun.

Great wolf gets you on the extras. The pool area is included with the room but everything else in that place seems to have a hefty price tag attached to it
