Crater of Diamonds (209 State Park Rd, Murfreesboro, AR 71958), i have been wanting to go here for sometime now. Should be a nice day trip, it is 240 miles from Dallas.

Carlsbad Caverns is also a good place but took 9-10 hours for us when we drove their just before summer started....some part of the road is single lane so might slow you down a bit depending on when you go...

Hope this helps

FYI: Carlsbad Caverns has an elevator that will bypass about a mile of downward walking. The elevator drops you off at the gift shop/snack area and the paths are stroller friendly with railing. You can pretty much pick how much you wanna walk but I strongly suggest a kids leashes/strollers...they got some pretty steep drops.

Arkansas, hot spring national park is about 5hr drive. It's a nice small town. But the problem with hot spring is you and your spouse have to enjoy the SPA separately because most of the SPA will not take little kids.

If you can go by air and plan a longer stay, I will highly recommend you go to Rockey mountain NP in Colorado. It's only about 2hrs flight. YMCA at rockey mountain is a great place to stay especially for people with little ones. They offer tons of activities for children either free or with minimum fee. And the mountain is gorgeous! Stay in their cabin with kitchens. So you can prepare food for your kids and save some $$ to dine out all the time.
