Default Arlington info-commute/safety

What would the average commute time be from Arlington (zip code 76017, just south of I-20, around SW Green Oaks Blvd and S Copper St) be to downtown S. Houston St at Commerce St?

Also, after reading previous posts, I see that I should be selective in my Arlington neighborhoods-is this area safe? School districts are not a concern.

Thanks for your input.

We live in the area you're talking about and the drive to downtown Dallas during rush hour is roughly 40 minutes - sometimes more. It depends on traffic, of course, and whether or not there's a wreck - and how fast you drive! With no traffic or slowdowns at all, it takes right at 30 minutes.

SW Arlington (west of Cooper St.) is a good part of town with the best schools, which you're not concerned about but is important for resale if you own a home. Do not live anywhere east of Cooper Street.

A co-worker commutes into downtown from south Arlington and he says good days are 45 minutes and bad days are 70 minutes.

I would try to find a home in the 76016 zip code. In general I would try to stay west of Bowen if at all possible.

The drive to work will be tough though.
