Any good Biblical centered church should be gay friendly, in that they will accept members who are openly gay. You'll want to stay away from the crazy churches that teach that homosexuality is mutable and that homosexuals can "convert" to heterosexuality... luckily there aren't too many of those in DFW as we tend to have a bit higher IQ level around here. Even the Catholic church accepts openly gay members.

However, many churches (including the Catholic church and probably most other churches) believe that the Bible instructs homosexuals to abstain from sex and live a life of celibacy since homosexual acts are what is condemned in the Bible, not homosexuality itself (the idea that people are either homosexual or heterosexual is actually not even something recognized until the last 150-200 years, so when the Bible was written and doctrine formed, homosexual acts were what was being examined, not a state of sexuality). If you want to find a church that is openly accepting of actual homosexual sex, your options are going to be more limited and you may want to look at a more liberal, less Biblically oriented church. It's an important distinction, so just keep that in mind. You might remember the controversy with Watermark Community church in Dallas where they had an openly gay member who was otherwise accepted, but forced out of the church because he was openly engaging in homosexual acts. Good luck!

That is just not true. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination has lots of open and affirming congregations in the Metroplex and they are very biblically based. I used to be a member of the denomination and knew a partnered associate minister in NYC in the mid 90s.

I should have rephrased my post to take out "biblically based". Most congregations consider themselves to be biblically based.

Here's a good list of the major denominations and their stances in regards to homosexuality. It turns out more denominations than I thought are approving of non-celibate homosexuality.

Interesting - I just Googled this and the first two hits were specifically about the church being gay-affirming, to the point of splitting from the Baptist General Convention of Texas in 2010 over the issue.
