SAtoDallas is on a distinguished road
Depending on what area of town you live you have ATT U-Verse, Verizon Fios, Grande Commuications, and of course Dish and DirecTV, so yes you have options.

Not as many as you'd think; some of those dish companies won't touch townhouses/condos/apartments, and I'm renting a townhouse. According to AT&T's website, they won't sell service to people like me. Verizon isn't available in this area; I MIGHT be able to get DirecTV but I have to get permission from my landlord first.

You might have to sign a contract w/DirecTV as well - so if you plan on moving in the next year or so, be sure to check that.

My lease runs out in late August 2008 and I won't be renewing it here...I plan to buy a house.

Actually the landlord cannot prevent you from having a dish under most circumstances. It might be best to contact Dish and Direct and have someone come out to see if your unit is in proper alignment for reception and then they can fill you in on the legalities.

Oh really? I didn't know that; I've been living overseas for several years so I've missed the whole dish revolution in this country. Thanks for the tip!

I've seen lots of DirecTV dishes in this townhome complex so hopefully I'll be able to get one too. I HATE Time Warner...they suck so much!

My son has Comcast cable TV/internet down in Houston and he is having all kinds of problems. I haven't had cable since Dish Network came out. I had zero problems in southern CA but when we moved to southwest MO and severe storms would come around we would lose reception momentarily. Otherwise we are very happy all these nearly 10 years with the service. If your rental unit is in the correct location I wouldn't hesitate to go with a satellite provider.
