Hi all, I know this website for a while now and read a lot of your advise, discussions. First of all, I would like to thank you for all of your sharing, posting, and helping, and building this great forum.

Here is my situation. I have an accountant job closed to Renner and Jupiter (75082). I am renting an apartment right now, and start to thinking of buying a house sometime around 2014/ 2015. I know it is a little early to ask, but I would like to have much time as possible to research areas and know more about the neighborhood. Which zip code do you think I should focus on? My budget is around 125k-175k. I don't like big house nor big lot/yard. I like the house around 1200-1400 square foot, 3 bed and 2 bath. Safety is the most important factor to me. I do not care about schools since I do not have kid, and don't think to have them for the next 5 years. I do not want a long commute (more than 30 minute driving). I really appreciate any of your input.

Best regard,

You can look into Richardson 75082/80/81, East Plano 75094/75075 or North Garland.

FWIW: Even though you aren't interested in being close to good schools, as an accountant you should realize that there is added-value to a neighborhood that has good schools. This will be important to you in a few years should you need to sell.
And keep in mind that areas with good schools have a tendency to reflect the quality of the neighborhoods they are nearby.
It may not matter to you at the moment but if it were me, I'd keep that in mind when shopping a neighborhood for a home.

Hi beentheredunthat, thank you for your advise! Off course, I wish I could have everything. Lots of people in this forum said that it costs closed to 200k to have a nice house in the area. So, with my price rang 125-175k, I don't believe that I can be too picky. So, I just pick the most important factor for me right now: closed to my workplace and safety.
