I am a 20 something professional woman considering a move to Dallas. I had originally considered Houston but 2013 statistics prove Dallas is safer. I know everywhere has crime but what are the areas in and around DFW that are safe with great schools. These two are my top priorities.Budget is $1200/ mo,2/2.5 townhome,SFH, high/midrise. I'm particularly interested in Las Colinas and Mesquite.

Thanks in advance

Find the job first, and then decide where to live so you don't have an awful commute.

High/mid rise here is basically nonexistent outside of a few in north Dallas and Uptown.

Exactly.

You might be able to find an apartment in Valley Ranch that feeds to Coppell schools if you end up getting a job closer to that area. But really, you need to get the job first.

Downtown?
North Dallas?
South Dallas?

Its a huge city. A zip code, or even cross streets, would be a big help.

They don't have any 2/2.5s, but this meets pretty much all other criteria you have: Inwood Gardens Apartments - Dallas, TX 75205 | Apartments for Rent

It's in Highland Park ISD (actually pretty much across the street from Highland Park High School), the best school district in Dallas, and very close to Bluffview, as well as the Inwood-Lovers shopping center.

Why? The schools are crappy in both Irving and Mesquite, neither offer the mid/high rise living you were seeking, and the commute from Mesquite will suck (50ish minutes to/from) and while Irving isn't a terrible commute (20 minutes), you can certainly live closer!
