Las Colinas is probably the closest-in area where you will be able to buy a large new house and stay on budget. If you prefer new construction, it's worth a look.

Correct - LC is 15 minutes to the Love area and maybe 20-25 to downtown depending on traffic.
La Villita Elem is a great school and they should be building the new Middle School here within the next year or 2.
Hackberry Creek may even have some homes you like.

When I go to Love field I never get on a freeway, all back roads.

Cutting your commute time is a great goal.

Either move closer to work or work closer to home.

IMHO you should look at changing jobs as well.
