Hi all,

I'm looking for some rental homes, it can be an owner with multiple properties or a management company.
The most important factors are:
  • Pet friendly - specifically pit bull friendly. I have 3 well mannered dogs, 1 of which is a 90lb pit bull mix. They're neutered.
  • Price - under $1500 per month
  • Location - Plano, Carrollton, Addison, Lewisville ....
  • Minimum 3 bedrooms 2 bath
I don't mind if it is an "older" home as long as it is well kept and in a good area. I realize that my price point would likely put me in something older anyhow.

I've tried looking for a place on Craigslist but most the ads seem to be on the scammy side.

Oh, and last I would ideally prefer a home that is rent-to-own!

Thanks for your help!

Most landlords allow none or just one small dog or cat if property is in desireable. DFW home rental market is very hot and no nice property stays vacant for long.

It's not as much as old vs new as desireable location/school vs not so hot location/school that dictates rental income in DFW.

Rent to own in TX is almost illegal and about impossible to do.

Most lawyers won't even touch them.

Add Richardson to your search. There are a few houses for lease in the Heights area.

Getting a rental house in DFW right now is a nightmare due to shortage of places to rent. The only reason I was able to get a rental house at one point was because I happened to know people who worked at the management company for it. Most rental properties are getting several applications the first day they are on the market, and landlords will prefer those who have no pets. I actually had to give up my cat and golden retriever to get a rental house (both went to a good home though), because nobody would rent a place to me with them.

Fortunately, 2014 and 2015 should be a lot better for renters. There are tens of thousands new apartments that will be ready (they are currently under construction), so should solve a lot of the shortage of rental residences.
