Which one do you think adds more value to a house in DFW area? In other words, which one is more trendy among house buyers these days?

Wood. Unless you're talking about really high end natural stones.

This. Even in these cases high end stone only seems to be in "areas" of the house(kitchen, foyer, bathrooms), where as wood is often seen and something preferred through out.

I personally like the look of some areas in stone with others in tile. It help break up rooms and areas a little better. However in larger rooms(ie living room into and open kitchen) with solid floors, area rugs can help separate the areas as well. Below is a picture that shows the tile floor in the bar and wood in the living room. Sorry for all the "noise" in the picture but it's the only one I can find that shows the wood floors, area rug and tile. And my son getting down like Schroeder,

Wood floors are expected in living room, dining room, etc. Personally, I like the handscraped wood floors. That way I don't care when my girls are riding scooters in the house, etc. They hold up pretty darn good.

Handscraped hard wood is great and we have it in 75% of the house but we have travertine in foyer, kitchen, dinning, bathrooms, family, laundry and corridors. It's really practical for kids and dogs coming from walk, pool, rain, sports etc. Its easy to clean and feels cooler than wood in Texas summer. Coming from Alaska, we wanted wood everywhere but now we know better.

Wood-hand scraped wood seems to be exceptionally in atm.....we have multiple dogs and kids-extremely forgiving unlike other wood floors we have had....easy to clean and maintain. We have tile in bathrooms/laundry and carpet in bedrooms only..

Wood...although some of the wood like tile available now is a pretty attractive option for an active household!
