I am 99.9% sure that I was asked if I wanted to register to vote while I got my TX driver's license and of course said yes, but I've never once received anything in the mail or otherwise to indicate that anything was done.

We have since moved from an apartment into a permanent residence. What is the best/most convenient way to register to vote?

When you change your address online with the DMV, it will ask you about voting. Our cards came in the mail pretty quickly. (Dallas County)

I did the DMV thing and haven't received a card - and it's been two months.

Today's newspaper printed a replica of a voter registration form on its editorial page, urging people to register before February 3 if they want to take part in the major-party primary election in March.

If the DMV is losing people's voting applications, that ought to be a big scandal...

I mailed one of those forms to the county address on Stemmons Fwy., and the voter registration certificate came in the mail pretty quickly. (The certificate is on light cardboard - like a magazine subscription page or a business card - and has your voter number (VUID), precinct number, and other info. They stamp it when you vote in an election, and send you a new one every couple of years, or perhaps when the various district lines are redrawn.)

BTW - after about a month of waiting, I decided to fill out a paper application and mail it in. I haven't received anything from that either.
